iron table cover

That day when I nearly used my new iron, I didn't control temperature well and got my iron table burnt with two ugly holes, I felt bad everytime I saw those holes and decided to make a cover for it by myself.

I finally made it at last Sunday, I first drafted table shape on used newspaper, then putting some seam allowing for fabric by my own.

Actually the cover is easy to make, as shape is really basic and I only need to sew a rubber around the cloth, then it is done.

Though procedure is simply, I still feel happy with my product, this is the first time I do DIY for my house utility.

Here is draft that I drawn according to my iron table

And, this is finished product after putting on iron table, it looked fine though I am not very satisfied with my sewing stitching.

my sewing machine

Hehe... I finally bought my sewing machine, Brother LS-2160 at RM 599, it is so cute and easy to use, I only want to buy a basic sewing machine which can do sewing and buttonhole, this machine is fulfill my requirement.

From online review, some people said it is hard to adjust its tension and always got birdnest forms, but I got it just correct and my dress was sewn well with it.

I am happy with the shop that I bought this machine, boss was friendly and spent time to teach me on using it at very first time, she also give me some gifts on purchase the machine.

With this little machine, I can shorten pant's length and repair zipper, even to sew a dress, I am satisfied with it.

Repairing clothes

Finally, I bought my own sewing machine and I can start my sewing lab now, I am quite satisfied with the sewing machine as it worked fine to me, it managed to do anything that I want to do, that I am not regret to have it.

Actually, we depended a lot on tailor for repairing clothes for us, the most common part is to shorten a pant we bought which is longer than our waist height. However, we hardly to visit to a tailor shop, therefore lot of our pants are folded.

Today, I helped SL to repair his pant and adjusted to his waist height, I am happy with my job and SL was satisfied with the length, we both are happy. If we continue this practice and shorten pant by our self, we can get the sewing machine payback after done with 60 pants (I considered tailor would charges us RM10 per pant, but it might be varied).

Besides that, SL had a short with damaged zipper, which didn't get repaired for long time, I think about a year, and I finally bought a zipper myself yesterday at about a dollar, then I do it myself to replace the zipper with a functional one, and it works now as well.

Of course, this is my first time to do zipper replacement, therefore I pretty carefully observe the sewing structure when doing removing and arranged some steps to get it done. At the first time, I got the zipper attached on its location, but the completed product still looked strange to me.

After bed, I flung my mistake as I sewn the cover at the back of zipper while it should be on top of it to make it invisible. Thereafter, I repaired it to it should be and now the pant looks perfect, I am pretty proud with this as I think pant's zipper is one of tough project to complete, as it need to consider appearance at final product.

Here I got another with damaged zipper as well but am still looking for a 3 inches zipper for it, I wish that I can repair it soon.

I am not sure how much this would charge when goes to tailor, but I think my sewing machine sure worth the price finally, as it can do more than that and even can sew a cloth.

My first own made pant

Finally, I have my own made pant completed two weeks ago, I felt so proud with that and I really love to do sewing, it was really an interesting hobby.

This is the first time I made a pant for myself, the most interesting part is the pocket, there is some steps to make pocket nicely.

Sewing Machine

Without a sewing machine, I can’t sew anything by myself. After attending the sewing class, I am longing for a sewing machine, but I am not sure which one to own.

Well, if looking for quality can last longer one, surely I would chose Singer traditional manual one, however that sewing machine cannot sew buttonhole, this is the reason makes me hesitated to buy it. Besides, I also think it is hard to move and we are going to move house maybe by next year, it might not a good choice for me. Then SL told me, there is one traditional sewing machine in his hometown, he could move it to here if I really want.

Therefore, I think I would move my target to electrical sewing machine. Then everything makes easy because I am not looking for fancy feature and I only want it can do basic sewing is enough, so I would choose a cheap one, and I like Brother LS2610 because it is cheap and got all basic features that I want (straight stitch and buttonhole sewing), and overlock stitch is another plus for it.

After a lot of survey, I think I will go for Brother LS2610.
